چکیده

Many studies have been made on clinical aspects, immunol ogy, bacteriology and treatment of en 'thema nodosumleprosum (ENL). It s patho'logy ha s been described , among others, by Murata (3), Sugai a nd Monobe (X), M itsuda (2), Reiss (5), Rodriguez (6), Wolcott (9) and Sasaki (1), on the basis of light microscopy. However, electron microscopic studies have not bee n reported. Recent advances in immune electron microscopy utilizing ferritin-conjugated antibody or enzyme-labeled a ntibody have made possib le the loca tion of a ntige n by electro n microsco py. Ferritin is a protein including iron which is 100 A in diameter. At the core, surrounded by protein shell, there is a sq uare mice lle 55 A in diameter which includes iron hydro xide and iron hydroxide phosphate. The core can be differentiated as a high contrast dot under electron microscopy. Accordingly, when antibody is conjugated with ferritin as a labeling substance and reacts with antigen, the loca tion of a ntigen can be observed .

The results suggest that: (i) the clin...
